I recently went threw a old drawer, that has been in the family for decades and found few coins. But one token wich i didn´t know put it in a coin flip and didn´t look in to it for a week or so. Then i asked around. And after email to a collector and a visit to the central bank of iceland and a conversation to the head of the numismatic department. It Turned out to be a Bread Token with the letters "IHF" wich stands for
islands handels & fiskericompany" wich was fishing company at patreksfjörður an small town that is located in west fjords in iceland and on the other side on the coin "FB" frans bread. IHF owned the main store in town thats why the coin got their mark. The coin was minted propably between 1899-1907 and is the only one known about with the FB marking. And and the only one missing to fill the series of IHF bread tokens at the central bank numismatic museum.

You going to let them give you an offer? Or maybe let them store it for you and they can display?

That is a absolutely a wonderful bread token you got there and what a lucky find. Congradulation on maybe finding the only one left in Iceland. I'm a Icelander living in the U.S for most of my life but love Icelandic coins and tokens. There is another member here that is from Iceland and lives in Reyjavik, maybe you know him his member name is Siggi palma, A great guy to get to know. He also has a wonderful collection of Icelandic tokens you may want to check out and some of them are very rare like yours. This is my web site about Icelandic coins ,Its not finished yet but I have some of his tokens on the home page. www.coinsoficeland.com If for what ever reason that may, You can PM me anytime. Well welcome to the forum and congrad's :high5: on that great token that someone in your family has been saving for you.
