An insurance company pays a $21,000 claim in coins. Coin hunting heaven. I might not leave the house for 6 months. http://gawker.com/insurance-company-pays-mans-settlement-with-21-000-in-1616696318
Oh and how sweet would it be if he finds a rare coin worth thousands more. That would be sweet retribution on the sleazy insurance company.
Yea, saw that story yesterday. The reason the insurance company did that was because the person who sued them was an elderly man who had just had an hernia operation. Sick joke.

One of my banks called me last week after their depositor, the city treasurer, had gotten $600 in cents and nickels from a disgruntled customer. It took me the better part of the weekend to go through the lot and I did end up with a good amount of wheats and pre1950s Jeffersons.
The article I read said, according to the lawyer, that he refused to accept the coin and then the next day when he returned from court they had been left at his office. Did they give them a receipt for the payment/amount of the settlement? If not I would contact the police to report finding some lost money and turn it over to them. Then I would dunn the insurance company for the settlement payment. (Of course I see no reason to tell the insurance company what I did with the coins. At least not untill after they come through with a check. And if no one claims the "lost money" before a certain time limit, the police would return it to the lawyer and it is his free and clear.)
Self portrait? Lighten up... was just a litle joke, and I can only assume that if Peter had a problem with it, he could and would have removed it. Either way, and just to keep things in perspective, the post (#4) was in reference to your now self-edited original statement (changed to "sleazy") in post #2.
Hahaaa I didn't know there was a thread on this! I saw it the news today. Peter T Davis let me know heehee thank you sir! Sorry I did not think when I saw the title is was about the same thing All in all, I would be happy with it and try and find a coin to triple the money and then rub it in!
You tried to make it seem worse (by juxtaposing a child reading it) and basically snitched by tagging Peter. Just admit it instead of hiding behind "it was just a little joke".
Snitching you out to the guy who had just read and responded to your post pre-edit? Gotcha. By the way, that "child" is Beaver Cleaver. Perhaps if you were familiar with the show, you would have gotten the joke, hotshot.
If you'll notice, Peter was replying to my first post about the same time I made a second post. Perhaps he didn't notice my second post, but you sure made sure he did. Now maybe you didn't notice the timing thing, but I don't know that. For the record, I do think Peter most likely read both of my posts so this could very well be a moot point anyway. What I think is the more likely scenario is that Peter read it and didn't have an issue with it, but you made it a case to point out the possibility that a child could be reading it. It appeared to me like you may have been calling attention to it in an attempt for Peter to take action. Of course, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Beaver always asking 'what is _____' is so funny you felt it should be shared by tagging Peter. If that is the case, then maybe my 3rd post is appropriate.
Maybe the claim was bogus. If I were the insurance company and someone made up a bogus lawsuit I would consider this.
Perhaps you didn't notice, but I didn't bury the word in a post, but displayed it for everyone to see. If anything, this would have brought heat upon myself if there was a problem with it, but don't let the obvious get in the way of a good whine. I didn't quote you and certainly didn't rush off to report something that I personally couldn't care less about, but instead of taking a straightforward explanation at face value or even considering the fact that you may have misinterpreted my intent, here we are bickering over nonsense. If you misunderstood or were otherwise offended by my post, I do apologize.
Yea, let's get back to more important stuff, like getting me a beer! and then we can talk coins some more.
I've always appreciated the gesture when done by the proverbial little guy without access to the means to defend himself, but I have no similar respect for a business acting this way. This was a voluntary settlement, not a questionable fine by a government official or business. If the insurance company didn't think the man was entitled to the $21,000, then they should have fought it in court. Acting childish just makes the business look bad.
