    this 1917 looks like adouble die. it shows in the 1, and if you could get closer, you could see the line running through the 9

    No, some machine doubling, but it isn't the 17DDO. The 9 & 7 are the easiest point for me to spot, then of course the motto " GOD WE TRUST" is very apparent. On the upper end of the curl of the 9 there is a definite split, not just a line. The top bar of the 7 is almost twice as thick as the vertical, making it look like a skinny 7 with a big top. The effect on the 1 is on the bottom and not the top like yours. I have a few like yours :( and a real ANACs one in low grade.

    But if it is any consolation, these MD are on ebay all of the time.People do get confused.

    That;s machine doubling the one looks like a form of damage a possible hit the coin is not a doubled die just your every day machine doubling. The nine appears to have extra thickness and also took a hit could be a form of die deterioration on the nine but not sure.
