US coins in a while. So very clean. https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-r...innovation-1-coin-products-available-february
A shame it won't circulate, eh? I'm still bugged that they put multiple sets of initials on both faces. Hiding them in the water here is nice, but they're still super-distracting on the obverse. (Nothing would make me love that obverse, though; all that blank space just cries out for a date and mint mark. I hate the date-on-the-edge paradigm.)
I like the reverse, especially the nautical line (rope) around the outside, but always feel like the designer missed opportunities when I see so much blank space on the obverse.
Indeed, think we've been getting carried away for a while, now...along with so many similar things of so-called credit and recognition for no other reason...to leave no one out, et al, by more prominent, conspicuous identification. Agree with the edge stuff, also...esp on this one. Enough.
I agree, I do love the reverse. That sail just seems to jump out, the water is nicely designed and I second the thumbs up on the border. I detest the obverse of the series. Being as I cannot love the entire coin, I am going to pass on collecting them but for the reverse, I agree it does look really nice!
I like it. It's definitely innovative. Some light clouds in the sky on both sides might have been attractive, but I'm ok with the minimalist look.
Having your artwork featured on US coinage ought to be honor enough. Tagging it with your graffiti ought to be prohibited.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but I wonder if the legislation requires it. If it were the designer doing it, I'd expect more variation in letter styles, and more sense about their placement.
