I think I've ID'd my one, cleaned Roman: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s3227.t.html While my eagle doesn't look exactly like those pictured, I can def. make out DIVO CLAVDIO on the obv. (plus, the the portraiture resemblance is dead-on, I think), and the rev. is absolutely a CONSECRATIO w/ facing eagle looking right. The pictures are on this thread, in case you missed 'em: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=15893 Yay for attribution.
Wildwinds is my bible. Your ID is right on... Claudius II Gothicus. He got his name by whacking a lot of Goths and commemorated it on coin#1 Then,to show his kinder, gentler side, put PAX (peace) on later coins.#2 (and apparently got fat and grew out his beard) Either that or he was an ancestor of John Gotti. Those kooky Italians! And,I know, the label needs correcting,VI(C)TORINVS and PF AVG,not PP.Sue me.
