    does anyone recognize this company?

  4. Littleton? Yeah, they have ads in my newspaper all the time. But their ads are misleading and their offers seem like a ripoff or at least a big ploy to uneducated collectors... I wouldn't ever do business with them.

Frankly, my friend, I wouldn't have the coin graded. It's going to cost you in the neighborhood of $35 to get it graded. Now add your purchase price of $30 to that and you're already underwater unless the coin comes back a '70 and that's a real crap shoot. In many cases with ASE's it all boils down to what the grader had for breakfast or lunch, the day day he graded your coin, as to whether or not the coin gets a '69 or a '70. Besides, many dealers are loathe to pay much more than melt/spot on these, be it a '70 or otherwise. Most dealers only consider these coins bullion. Some coins warrant grading, but not this one. If you want your Eagles graded then buy them that way. It'll save you a bundle in the long run.

  12. Because the stuff they sell is overpriced and misleading:

If $8 is 73% off their regular price...

And each design is "struck for one year only, and never again!" Oooh...(!)

Because they are overpriced with the products that they offer Brian. You can do better price wise elsewhere. Actually, though, you did rather well with this purchase compared to my favorite online dealer. What did you pay in shipping charges?

Littleton is not a favorite of members here. They are vastly overpriced, and many members have had bad experiences purchasing from them.
I'm not sure where you are seeing MS70 ASEs selling for $20,000. Even if yours gets slabbed a 70 (which it may not), it is NOWHERE near 20,000. There is currently one slabbed by PCGS being sold on ebay and it's bidding is up to $150.

Bottom line: if you are looking for it in terms of value, don't slab it. The cost of slabbing will most likely outweigh the price you may get for it if it is slabbed.

Well there is no way I'd send that in.
    The 70 is $20,000 because 75,000 of them got a 69 and only 90 got a 70.
Do you think yours is better then the other 75,000 other 69's?

i guess what my question has become; is there a good chance this could be a perfect coin being from Littleton(reguardless of their price)?

i see they have been in business since 1945 and this slab is dated as 1999.
