I got these on Ebay, resonably cheap! £2.49 for this... £0.60 for this (uncirculated) Did I get a good deal? I'll take some new pictures when I've recieved them.
He relisted the item as soon as the auction ended, I'm thinking he was bidding it up and he won the item? When I get them in the post I'll take some pictures
My guess is that he has a roll of them. eBay does pretty well at find people bidding on their own items.
The bullion value for the half dollar is $2.60 and these trade pretty close to their bullion content while the nickel is actually a proof coin and thus would not be uncirculated. The nickel would likely cost 50 cents to a dollar.
Good deal? I think I got a good deal today at a show. I bought a 2006-W gold set with the 1 ounce, 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 in box with papers. Paid $2550. Also a toned 1884P in a NGC 65 holder for $240. In between making the offer to the dealer, and getting the cash at the bank, a dealer called me up and I asked him if the set was worth near the CDN price, that this week jumped up, and he said the set was only worth that with MS70 validation. I had given my word to the show dealer so I handed the cash to him and just asked for a receipt in case I took a loss, I can write it off on taxes. I have no regrets, someone is looking for the mint set for that year...
If you paid $2,550 for a complete 2006-W four-piece burnished gold set with papers then you paid under dealer bid on the Greysheet. It appears you did fine.
Good deal? I think you're right. It looks like the CDN is strong for this set now, I don't know why but it is. Someone is bidding the prices up.
Frank, Check the 65 Kennedy for doubling on the reverse.....all lettering and stars. If it has the doubling, it's an FS-801 and could be worth about $25. Chris
Thanks mate, will do. I don't understand how I got this for like £2.50 ($3.50) and the same one from the same seller went for $8 the day before :S oh well...
That's because more than one person wanted that particular coin, so they bid each other higher. Who knows, maybe it was an FS-801. A few years ago I was bidding on a 1969 ANA 3-medal set. I lost! My bid of $150 was beaten by $2.50. About a week later, another set turned up, and I can only assume that this seller saw the action on the previous set and that encouraged him to list it. When the auction ended, I won it for $48. As it turned out, there were only two people interested in it..........me and they guy who paid three times as much. It happens! Chris
Nice story, the whole "two people wanting the item thing" has happened to my uncle, he found these old motorbike manuals which were pretty much worthless. I think he expected a few pounds for them and he ended up getting £280...
