Going thru some state quarters looking for any errors and such. Now I could be a little crazy but tell me if this dosen't look like a little guy in the 4th window from rear of the space shuttle. I included a pic of a regular florida qtr to compare. What do you guys think? It's propably some kind of grease fill or something but it's still pretty cool to me. MM
Mattman, Easy on the acetone...I would suggest you have adequate ventalation!!! All jokes aside, I can't see anything from the photos.
Auction it on e-bay. Maybe someone will think it's an image of The Virgin Mary or Jesus and you'll make a fortune!! LOL!! All kidding aside, it does look like some one/thing is there. See if you can get it certified.
I think it's Captain Kirk from that episode where he went back in time and ... well ... you know the story ...
You know, I think your right! When I file it in the collection I'm going to call it my Capt. Kirk Quarter. MM
Speaking of which, can anyone think of another coin - US, world, or ancient - that has the same person's face on both sides - once in profile and once full face?
I think I know a few US coins that have the same face on both sides... The Boone Comm. The NJ Quarter The Lafayette Comm The Cent 1959-date I know there are more but can't put my finger on it right now. Speedy
Bolo The florida department of law enforcement has just issued a be on the look out BOLO for a very tiny guy - he likes to ride in space shuttle windows on quarters. Anyone who has seen this suspect is to capture him and the quarter he is in and send it immediately to the author of this post who will donate the coin to CT as soon as the alleged perp is removed for traveling without authorization in a government sponsered vehicle. That is all
Thanks for the post, Mattman. We're all mostly laughing and joking; but I wonder how many have checked their Florida quarters?? I certainly did, but found nothing similar. I'm not a very experienced numismatist, but I still recommend seeing about a certification. It might yet turn out to be a truly significant find!!
I know it's just for fun that's why I posted it. I've been collecting for over 25 years and if I thought it was anything special I would know what to do with it. I'm sure it's just a grease error or something similiar. I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. I didn't even think about Elvis, he does have a way of showing up in strange places. I think I'll still catalog it as Capt. Kirk tho. I see almost 180 people have viewed it, I wonder how many went thru their Florida's looking tho? I did go thru the rest of mine almost immediatly I will admit. (even my proofs) Nothing found. It's a "P" mint in case anyone's interested. Now if another few thousand suddenly show up, remember you saw it here first! Keep it lighthearted because that's what keeps it fun! MM
i went thru mine looking for my own elvis glad you didn't take it to heart i'm new to the coin world ,and i am learning alot from this site ,can you see the image with the naked eye?,or do i need to buy a special what ever it is thanks pete............p.s i still think it's elvis
Heck you can barely see the windows with the naked eye. Pic taken using the good old QX3 microscope at 60x (I think the newer ones are QX5?) Got mine a couple years back at Toys-r-Us. I know that they are redily available on eBay. Helps making look for things like this alot easier. Has 10x-60x-200x power. I usually look at 10x and if I see something unusual bumb it up to 60x. That's 2 for Elvis I may have to rethink what I call it! MM
NO NO NO! Keep it as Captain Kirk! ... he's headed into space, the final frontier, aboard the shuttle!
