Well, what can I say. My greed for a PRF70 silver Kennedy for $13.00 shipped on ebay got the best of me. Should have known better. After I purchased and paid for it, I went and researched SGS grading service. Nothing but bad news on them. Oh sgs kennedy half obv..jpg well, $13.00 isn't the end of the world. BE AWARE FOLKS. Do a search on SGS grading service before purchasing one of their slabs.

I guess those speckles are on the coin, not the slab. .....and the reverse?

Which is why, if you are buying slabbed coins, you don't trust anyone who isn't one of of the top companies.
That being said, the old adage "buy the coin not the slab" definitely applies here At least you are only out 13 bucks.

An important 'Life Lesson' @ only $13 is cheap indeed.
(Actually only 12.50 if you subtract the 50¢)

Well, it's silver. So he can subtract $6 or so. :)

On the bright side, at least you don't have to break open a Silver Proof set for one when you can just crack the slab open.

Edit: That coin would make a great addition to your Dansco 8166 if you have one.

Run from modern coins with spots.

Are you sure it’s silver? There are clad proof Kennedy’s also

I know the slab says Silver, but it also says PR70.

I’ve screwed up harder than that. I wouldn’t worry about it. Learn your lesson and move on.

I actually bought a basement slab like that once just to have one to show newer collectors. I have a couple of obvious fake coins I use for the same purpose. You could always claim later that you did the same. ;)

The seller was nice enough to cancel my order.

Good to hear. Of course, he'll just stick someone else with it, but at least it's not you, and your learning experience didn't cost you any "tuition."
