Hi , I wanted you to take a look at this. I was playing around last night on e-bay and came across these coins. It looked pretty interesting to me , and I was in the mood to buy a coin or two. The person that had them said he was not a collector, and didnt know anything about coins. He bought them at an estate sale and put them on E-BAY. what he has wrote down is that I will get --Buffulo nickels, liberty nickels, Indian head pennies, Wheat pennies, a couple proofs, and a couple jefferson silver nickels. I payed $26.00 for all of them. I know its playin the lottery, but to tell you the truth, I cant wait to see what I get.!! what do you think? worth a shot? I will let you know if there is anything very interesting in the bunch. thanks--BILL--- picture will zoom in
Well, I have spent more than that in one trip tot he local lottery agent and got nothing but grey goop on my fingers from scratch offs. : ) Good luck.
I'm always so suspicious of these auctions, it's always the same storyline. But who knows right? It's only $26 and you might just possibly get lucky!! The Indian Cents and Liberty Nickels will go for at least $1 each on ebay even in poor condition, so I'm sure even in the worse case scenario you won't be out too much. Good Luck!
You didn't spend much and you get to look through a pile of stuff, so at least it might be fun, and really , $28 for a few hours of fun is a bargain these days. Hope you get some neat stuff. Let us know. Guy~
No offense but these collections on ebay of mixed fruit coins are such a waste. The people who sell them KNOW they already searched them.. I mean really, who just SELLS unsearched coins. They are always searched unless they are in an official bank roll or somethin.. Don't waste your time
Nothing is a waste. It's a fun hobby for some who enjoy the search to obtain their collection and for others it's not much of a risk ($26) for what could be a fun reward. Clearly, 'buyer beware' of the type of sellers who scam or cherry pick and sell junk, but there's no absolute about this that its a waste. One mans trash is another man's treasure.. and To each their own... Besides, BNB, you choose to take your risk with high value coins all the time, repeatedly returning to raw gold and other key date coins on eBay (one of the riskiest most cheat filled venues around) even after you claimed you'd only buy from Heritage. So did you work your way out of that big eBay faux pas you were crying about the other day? I hope you didn't get burned but you sure do take a lot of expensive risks to be giving this kind of advice.
hi, I was just havin a little fun with this. I saw all the coins and said ( what the hell , why not) , its only 26 bucks and I might find something really cool. At least thats my plan. I counted at least 33 coins in 2x2s. They have to be there for a reason, right? If the coins are worth a buck a peace , I made out good. just wanted my money back and I bet you I do. let me ask a few questions, if you dont mind.-- what do proof coins go for? I dont have any. WAIT__I HAVE at least 3 NOW!!!! lol. Can you tell me what the coin is just to the right of the proof coins? Is it a dollar coin? also I want some high 5s when I find a 3 legged buffulo nickel, and a 1909-s VDB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol,, boy this is fun. talk to you guys later--BILL--- maybe I will by ANKA here a new dress with my profit!!!!!!
I know a guy who puts pocket change into 2x2s and sells them on ebay. Living proof that you can sell anything on ebay. Once he sold $3.75 in change for $35.00. You gotta love the impulse buyers with money to burn. Personally, I'd use the $26 to buy a loaf of bread, lunch meat and cheese and eat off it for a couple of days...but that's just me. As our good friend and colleague BNB stated...everything on ebay is looked over (searched). Sellers only play dumb to get you to bid and obviously, that technique works ...alot.
Thanks, but i have enough bread and lunch meat for a while. lol. Didnt you ever do something just to have a little fun? thats all im doing. If you need a slice of bread just (PM) me and I will see what I can do. lol. just havin fun guys--BILL
I disagree. Although the seller may have searched the lot and think there is nothing of value in this lot, the seller could have missed many valuable coins if he/she didn't know what to look for. Sure, it's unlikely that any of the major key dates will be found as most people will search for them. But it is unlikely that the seller has searched every coin for every possible variety or error. I've sold searched bags of wheat cents before and then found out later that the buyer found several coins worth decent money such as repunched mintmarks and minor doubled dies that I missed in my search because I didn't even know to look for them. Sound like a fun way to spend less than $30 here... have fun!
I usually stay away from these sorts of auctions...but I somethings look for rolls of circulated IHPs, dated buffalo nickels, and mercury dimes to give away to kids. I use the one (1) dollar rule...never bid more than $1 per coin. Of course, I always search the rolls first...no sense letting the kids have ALL the fun!
If the say they do not know anything about coins, I always check their other listed auctions to see if other coins are being sold, especially in singles and I also check their feedback to see if anyone says " Thanks for the nice ??? Coin ".
I've bought lots form sellers that are just selling once-off accumulation. And most of the time I've made out like a bandit. The key is to check the feedback and see if they sell same "just found estate sale" scam. There's ONE seller that keeps posting "Mason jar of old coins JUST FOUND WOW WHAT A COLLECTION" etc and people buy his junk every week! If I had a bag of work 5c and wheaties (oh wait I do have those lol) I could make a killing selling "old mason jars/cigar box" lots to suckers. But I won't. And yes, it IS about the hobby, and no one should criticize anyone else for having some fun with $26 of stuff to go through. Especially not those that post about how awesome ebay is.
with all the talk here about what might happen , I really cant wait for the coins to get here. Can someone look at the picture and let me know what kind of coin is to the right of the 3 proof coins? It looks like a dollar coin to me. what do you think? just wondering what it is. Also how much are proof coins worth/-- thanks again --BILL----- they might be mint set coins that I am talking about. there are 3 coins in a bag. middle of picture. the proof coins could be the ones at the top left of the picture., in the holder. I dont know
Bill I think that there is a quarter and half dollar still in the Unc sheet from the Mint Set with probably a loose nickle under the sheet. To the right of that sheet, if I understand what you are asking, I think it's a Kennedy half in a 2x2. I'm not sure I see any Proof coins, but the image is hard to read.
