I have seen many coins that look like #3 and suspect this is accurate. You have a lot of flare. Perhaps it is time to try a better background.

Just playing around and put your coin on a black background just to see if you might like the contrast.

Shoot your pictures outdoors instead of inside the house. On a sunny day, pick a spot (in the shade) about 2 feet from the edge of a tree or building shadow. Find a way to position the coin at a 45 degree angle facing (but not IN) the sunlight, a slanted board or something. Much better full-spectrum results.

Hold the coin up to the pictures on your screen. Pick the one which is most like the coin, except perhaps a bit brighter.

I suppose it is natural to want a photo which makes the coin look best (and coins photos can make some coins look better than they are if the lighting is just right), but there is also an argument that the photo should look like the coin.

There is also the opinion that if your coins are looking less good in hand than in your photos you might want to improve the light you use when looking at your coins. If you view coins by the light of a table lamp on the other side of the room and never remove them from their flips when viewing, don't blame the coin. Buy a good Ott (or other similar) desk light. You might find that a slight improvement in light will make your VF coins look EF and save you more than the cost of the light. Take coins out in the sun. Use sun block on you; not on the coins.
