Today I came across a Two-Cent piece and to me it looks like it could be proof. My question is how do you tell a proof strike from a business strike specifically with two cents? (To be clear I do understand the difference between the two I just don't see enough two-cents to make the call). I can't seem to find any info on the difference between Mint State vs Proof Two-Cents. Any help would be appreciated.
Not a proof, i see polish lines which may give it semi-reflective fields. I like to search P-mint Morgan Dollars that have mirrors, I always look 4 die breaks/cracks, when trying to tell the difference between a proof or just proof-like. Vamworld shows markers 4 these which make it easy. I dont always have access to internet when im out in the field, so my go-to would be die breaks/cracks. This isnt an end all be all test, but most classic proofs should have very little if any at all.
here is the expert on these 2 cent pcs. @PennyGuy Bill has one of the best 2 cent collections that I've ever seen! Award winning set of duces
Very cool doubled letters on the reverse. Even with the cropped pics, I can tell the rims are slightly "rounded" in nature and don't look squared off to me. So I'm going with business strike.
I'm on a slow Wi-Fi link so I can't use my reference coins for comparison but from the OP's low res pics I'd have to say circ strike as well.
