I just bought a 1916 S and it appeares to be a RPM S/S. It is stampped with 2 for sure maybe a large s then small s? anywhere on the net I can get a listing and pics of errors for the walkers
I see in the Breen Encyclopedia of US coins it had a a 1916 D/D but it doesn't show a S/S...that doesn't mean there isn't one.... Can you post a photo?? Speedy
CONECA does not list one, but as Speedy said that doesn't mean they don't exist. You may wish to contact the folks at CONECA and see what they say - Click Here
pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are Pics, boy what a pain that was taking a pic through a mag glass. maybe this helps?
it looks like in S when you see it in person in a pic there is no depth- you can see a depression on the top part of the s and the indents at the aft side of the s witch is consistant with the 5 other ones I have. I you look a pic 1 you can just make out the shape of the s. but maybe it is counterfit??? or a s over d, or maybe speedy is right.
Based on the pics I'd say it was a small S over a D - but without seeing the coin in hand there is no way to be sure. And that apparent notch in the bottom left of the D bothers me some - it does make me wonder if it is an altered coin. But again - no way to be sure without seeing the coin in hand. I'd stick with my original suggestion - send the coin to CONECA and let them have a look. If it is genuine - you'd have the discovery coin
