I'm honestly not sure if they are typically washed. They are so cheap, I have always just went out and bought new one's when they wore out.

I'd be afraid that any detergent would be bad for the coins.

If you have to..... I would suggest using a weak cold water detergent solution, pouring it into the glove and allowing it to flow through to the outside hopefully carrying the particles away from the glove. Rinse well with tap water again from the inside until all soap is gone, and then a rinse from inside with distilled water, and allow to air dry on a towel.

But as said , unused ones are safer.

I think that it is a lot less important what you wash them in than how they are rinsed and dried.

Having some chemistry background, but not knowing the true coin affects, I would think of washing in windex. That stuff is made to completely evaporate. That is not to say they should not be rinsed.

I've used Woolite and had good results. After washing, rinse and soak them for a couple of hours in hot water before laying flat to dry.

With the effort & cost to wash them, I think it is more cost effective to purchase a new set of cotton gloves.

I pay 1-2 dollars per pair so washing, etc. is not evan an option for me (not worth the time IMHO).
