I found this old hammered coin and have been trying to ID it with no luck. I found some from India that were similar but not the same one. So, if anybody knows these and can tell me what it is I would really appreciate it. It's 16mm in diameter and 3-1/2mm thick.

This looks very much like I bought from Littleton many years ago under the identity of a "Bull and Horseman" coin from India.

Thanks for adding the pictures. I have just spent a happy (?) hour going through Krause 19th century (168 pages!) and got no good match. There are many near matches among the Paisa and Falus coins - and even Tonka and other small bronzes.

I also checked Afghanistan, which also has similar Falus coins at that era - no more luck.

I haven't time to repeat the exercise for 18th century yet - maybe later. Hopefully somone who can translate some of the letters can help to home us in on a specific State.
