I've got this gold coin. I have no idea whatsoever where it's from or how much it might be valued. Any help would be appreciated. FYI the dime is only for perspective. Thanks....
It appears that way. In addition it looks like a mosque in the first pic. Not knowing what's what with the coin I have no idea which side is obverse or reverse.
Fixed your images for you...No longer sideways, cut out all the superfluous background crap, and the bottom image is rotated to the correct orientation...
Your coin is dated with the Islamic year "1370" https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/iran-1-4-azadi-km-1265-1366-1370-cuid-1169648-duid-1501870 https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces61337.html

@furryfrog02 thanks for the digital assistance. This old guy doesn't know about that stuff. And, thanks for the link. Totally appreciate it. I've had this coin for about 15-16 years and knew nothing about it.
Good catch one of my best investments I ever made was the world encopedia of gold coins by Kraus 5 th ed.. As I recall it was quite costly like $125. But we are talking over 20 years ago. Even though the gold charts are out of date due to the price of spot gold today....this catalog has paid for its self many times over, trying to id gold coins for more than one reason....such as gold content ,mintages, etc....etc..
Km# 1250.2 1/2 Azadi 4.0680 g. 0.9000 gold 1177oz.agw obv. Legend larger ,obv. Legend "Spring of Freedom" Sh1370 (1991) unc price guide in this ed. $100.
You maybe correct however I went by date to eliminate as there are 3 that look simular but only 1 with the 1991 /1370 date. Later I'll pull the book out again
26 minutes from OP to an answer I've been searching for. You guys seriously blow me away with your vast knowledge. Thanks again.
The NGC and numista links I provided both had the 1370 date and a diameter of 16mm for the 1/4 Azadi which is why I believe it to be the 1/4 Azadi.
No it's just the ability to find the right resources....now a days the net is great to reference...in the past books were your #1 source, and building a library of references was just as important to me as the coin its self . A firm believer buy the book before the coin.
I wholeheartedly agree about acquiring the appropriate reference material first. The thing is, I didn't buy this coin and really had no interest in collecting any others. I honestly didn't know where to begin my search. Thanks again for all your expertise.
The 1/4 is correct the book lay out was very decieveving as the correct information was above the image not under as the others were played out.
