Can someone please explain to me why my second contest (guess the Ike bag weight) was deleted?

I read all the rules several times. What am I missing?

    Thanks... :-(

I don't see how thats a non-numismatic contest. There are plenty of contests that weren't closed, and that had nothing to do with coins at all.

Maybe one person shouldn't be able to close a contest, make it need another moderator as well.

The only thing you can do is ask the mod who closed it why he did. In the future, I suggest that before you actually start a contest that you check with Doug before you do anything else!

Apparently you didn't read Doug's comments a few weeks ago. He stated that they had been "letting it slide in the past" but it was starting to get out of hand.

Closest was Valente, who guess 15.2 pounds. Actual weight on my scale was 15.4 pounds for 300 Ikes plus the bag. Not too sure about the accuracy of the scale but it seems pretty close.

Wikipedia says an Ike weights 22.68 grams, times 300 = 6804 grams or 15.00025 pounds, plus the bag.

    Thanks to all who played.

I know this was not addressed to me, but I did read the rules carefully mutiple times BEFORE the second contest. A comment from a mod would be nice... i wanted to make it a verifiable contest - I could show the weight of the bag on my scale at the end - not 'what is my favorite year of Morgan dollar' or 'how many Ikes do I have' where the answer could be anything.

I must be an idiot 'cause I've been out of town for awhile. What the devil happened? Looked good to me.

I was wondering the same thing. it seemed like a good contest to me. I'm sure Doug had his reasons, he really does take a hands off approach to contests.

That sucks!! And all you were trying to do was run a simple contest for the community!
Thanks for the contest!! And I'm sorry for the way it turned out. Please don't feel discouraged, some mods are more strict/sensitive about their rules and stuff. Again thanks for the contest!!!

Folks please read my comments in Atarian's contest thread. It is open again, I screwed up.

edit - If you wish to discuss this further then it should be done in the Support and Feedback section, not in the Contest section. But I'm leaving this here because that is where it started.

Thanks GDJMSP - I know that being a mod can be frustrating at times - probably most of the time.
    No harm, no foul.
