I noticed that a couple wierd pennies have showed up on here today, and thought I would add this recent find to the mix.

I found it floating in some loose change. You cannot see the "I" by just looking at it, you have to magnify it, then you can see just a glimpse trace of it. (probably the reason its not listed) All of the other words in "Liberty" are bold and easy to see. Its a shame the rest of the coin is not in better condition.

My camera is loading the close-up pic now.

    EDIT; Got the pic up.

Before seeing the pictures, probably struck with a greased die.

Thats what I was thinking, the "I" could have gotten filled in, thus you can still see just a little smudge of an "I". I dont think its a real biggie, but still interesting.

Now that I can see the photos; yeah, looks like a greased. I suppose these are common, arent they?

they are pretty common but still neat! i saw a cent from the 1920's where there was just the 192. the last number was a grease filled die error. some of those are really neat looking. i have a few in my collection. only worth face value on the newer coins, and normal value for the older coins.

I still save the greased ones I find in a special place. This is the neatest one I have found so far. I think they might hold more collectors value someday, so I save them.

Nice find, some of the older grease errors can be worth a little money, I don't know about about that one, but still a nice find. :thumb:
