My grandchildren were in for the weekend and my 6 year old grand daughter is who I collect a lot of my coins for. I give her a prize to take home with her everytime she is here and she locks them away in her special place. This time it was a set of the 2008 P & D Sac. dollars along with there 2009 counterparts. She was up late with grandpa and was sitting with me at the computer as I read several threads and posts and looked at some pictures of coins here on CT. She was very interested in some pictures of Franklin halves and picked up on the crack in the bell and also the bell lines!!! When we were done we gotout my coin books and looked at several examples and at some other coins and before I knew it we had spent 2 hours just looking at the coins and talking about them. Thanks again CT for all the good information and the chance to get a grandfather and his granddaughter talking coins!!!!:bow:
Nice Biggie! Glad you guys could bond over coins. And hopefully she shows a real interest that stays with her into her teens.
I'm glad you are making another YN! Always nice to have a new collector. Glad she is showing an interest in coins, hopefully it stays that way for years to come
I know what your saying Biggie , when my 10 yr. old grandson was down last year I got him interested also , now he bugs mom & dad to go and check out the coin stores , ain't it coooool , just wish my grand kids were closer than 1600 miles away , hurry-up summer ; )
very nice story, its always nice to here of people spending time with the kids. there are kids out there without any adults to look up to. Thats why me and my wife are foster parents and we have 2 boys that i have started collecting with me. Whenever you can get a kid to smile just by looking at a coin is very rewarding. great job--Grampa--
