Sitting at work last week I get telephone call from the head teller at the bank where I pick up my Loomis halves, nickels, etc. She said a customer had just come in a deposited $40 in rolled pennies, some of which said “Wheats” on the wrappers. She wanted to know if I wanted them (silly question). I picked them up after work and, without eating much dinner, went through them.

    The results:

1215 wheats, many AU with mint luster from ‘50’s, lots of '40's, a few teens, 20’s, and 30’s---mainly hole fillers. Best is a 1913-D.

2200 or so pre-1982, excluding wheats.

    About 600 1983 and beyond.

    Kasia,
She not only called me at home...she called me on my cell phone, too.
Usually pays off to be pleasant to people.
