I have an acquaintance that buys abandoned storage rooms. When he happens upon a stash of coins he lets me buy them for a deal. Usually he shows up with a plastic grocery bag with junk silver banging around in it. I purchased such a bag from him yesterday. Today I am giving it a bit of a closer look and was surprised to find this. Common date but a surprisingly nice coin considering what I usually get in these grab bags. It rather makes me wish I had been gentler with the grocery sack! The grab bag.
I once received a very very worn 1916-? Dime. There was a mintmark but the dime was so worn it was just a bit of a blob. I gave it to my coin dealer and told him to gift it to a young collector and tell them that just maybe...... But no, nothing to jump up and down about other than the fact that I get most of my silver from him well below spot. I offered $150.00 for that bag and it has four Morgan’s and a Peace dollar along with various other silver and piles of Ike’s and bicentennial halves.
Regardless, one of the nice things about Ike’s and bicentennial halves is that you can spend them at a coin show or your LCS without getting a myriad of funny looks.
