tmoneyeagles I blame you (I read your post about watching the NBC coin show) I am watching coin vault on satellite TV and I just want to throw things at the TV. I just can't believe people would want to buy these coins at the prices listed. Buy now you can get 50 circulated peace dollars for just 1099.95 Better yet 4 BU peace dollars (various dates) for just 124.95 they are brilliant unciruclated 90 percent silver. It's all I can do not to shoot a hole in the TV. What rubbish a quick check of ebay which is many times overpriced would show what a rip off this is. Get them quick for your kids. This is a great way to get into collecting. All you collectors stay on line we will get to you. This guy voice is grating on my brain. I just can't quit watching it's like watching an accident you just can't not watch. Ice
Shoot, I almost had a heart attack, when I read the first sentence! But I'm okay now... They are somewhat fun to watch, until they get into your head, your dreams, pretty soon they know your phone number, your SS #, your license plate, where you work, etc... LOL Just joking... I've never watched coin vault, because I don't have the fancy TV stuff... So I just watch COIN COLLECTOR and COIN SHOPPE... I agree the prices are OUTRAGEOUS...
Sorry tmoneyeagles but I am only watching as you put me on to watching the coin shows. I have some Bourbon and ice in a glass and that is helping but that guys voice is killing me. Ice
50 peace dollars for $1100? lol, by my calculations, at $15 each that should only cost $750, but if you buy them at melt value (rounding up) at $11 each, that should only cost $550. Someone tell me how to get into this business...
I know what you mean. I'd rather listen to Jimmy Gerstel than that dude at coin vault. And Gerstel has one of the most anoying voices ive ever heard. But there's just something about that guy on Coin Vault that screams "scam artist". I get that same feeling, it makes me want to punch the guy's face on the TV screen.
They must have a fair amount of overhead..if they didn't sell coins at inflated prices..the business model probably wouldn't work.
I'm drinking Bourbon on Ice and this doesn't make sense to me and my mind is starting to get a bit fuzzy. Why oh why do people buy this stuff. Oh wait he's got 1978 type 2 proof set for 139.95 How stupid can people be.... I need more Bourbon maybe I'll get more stupid the more I drink on second thought I'll need a barrel to get that stupid.
Well, now let's not swing the pendulum in the exact opposite direction! If you can get Peace Dollars at $11 each, let me know where to back up the truck. I don't know what the condition of the Peace Dollars is on TV, but Apmex is out of stock It does offer AU Morgans at $18.99 each - which is pretty much the TV price. I've seen some of the TV deals where you also get certificates for free NGC grading. A couple of them were actually quite competitively priced. I think it was tied in with the Lincoln cent thing. Well, at least now, we know how our auto mechanic feels after we pay him a "fair" price for his services :<
Theres a friggin guy call Bromberg (or something and another ) that hits the Canadian Home Shopping network monthly , who also has a sucessful coin business in the Greater Toronto area. His notes have been bleached all to hell, his coins have been dipped and whizzed all to crap, and he came up with a new grade to confuse the granny buyers. FINE COLLECTABLE CONDITION. I could just walk up to him and slap him across the head, but the guy is also a lawyer
I get 4 or 5 different coin shows on satellite dish. I sometimes watch just to look at the coins. But I can't for very long because the salesmen annoy me so much. The terrible part is that they have to be selling alot of these extremely overpriced coins to stay in business.
I enjoy watching them. I always record them first so I can fast forward when I start getting bored with their repitition. The only deal with the two free certifications I'm aware of were with ANACS and it was on HSN. After saying I enjoy watching them please remember there is very little I enjoy watching period. I'll watch a poor coin show anytime over the show where the overweight people are competing against other to lose weight.
Thanks for sharing I like to watch these shows I think it is good to get as much interaction with coins as I can... In person, internet, TV (But cointalk is my favorite!)
I LOVE THE BIGGEST LOSER!!! Been watching, ever since season 1, with my mom, since I was a wee one.. Every Tuesday, we look forward to watching it together (I wish she would watch the coins shows with me though!!! LOL)
Eck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the coin shows are great.....if you want to believe em....after that watch the tv evangelist and send them some money...hahhaahahhaa
I like the TV ad that sells the "Last remaining Morgans in existence!" :goof: "They are Birilliant Uncirculated to Fine condition." :goof: We all know that when discussing grades, you go from lesser to better, not the other way around but the TV ad does it backwards to confuse you into thinking they are all BU, when in fact, they are NOT! :goof: Only numismatic fools would buy those! Ribbit
And the lines they use... "THE LAST REMAINING MORGAN DOLLARS, SILVER HIT $50 JUST A FEW SHORT YEARS AGO, AND IS CLIMBING BACK UP...THESE CONTAIN OVER THREE QUARTERS OF AN OUNCE OF PURE .900 SILVER, AND THESE ARE SOME OF THE RAREST COINS TO COME BY, IN HISTORY. EACH COIN COMES IN ITS OWN PRESENTATION BOX, FOR ONLY $39.95!" SAY WHATTTT??? They are crazy, I can tell ya that!
You guys crack me up, being surprised at the outrageous prices. Theres the cost of air time and of course their 125% profit margin. spensive! LOL and there are many people that believe that hype.
