I know its not a coin find but I just think its so cool. I will not post any more non coin finds but I just love this one and wanted to share it. Its so fun finding the odd ball stuff along with the coins.
Possibly taken back to the States by a returning GI after WWI or II for his girl, a great little find De Orc
Very likely. It was obviously made for the tourist/export market or it would have said "fabriqué en France".
That is a fameous cartoon scene, I wonder if I can do some research on it. See the black musicians playing? Ruben
:high5: You seem to have such fun with these searches, Jim! I thought about figuring out how to get you out here to Ellison Park-- the park that gives our neighborhood its name-- but I wonder whether it's already been well gone over. The land has been a park since the 1920's, the area was settled by Europeans starting in the 1700's, it was a Native American "Indian Landing" off Lake Ontario before that, and it was formed by glaciers. There might still be some goodies in there somewhere!
JIM, That find is part of our hobby in some ways it's exonumia and some of our members here collect it Jody for one. Just keep posting your finds we all enjoy what you dig up from the earth, no body parts please.
I would love the challenge. I don't care if others have been places I go to. One good find is all it takes to make the time out worth it. No one finds it all. Wish I could detect the place. Thanks, Jim
