Is this coin Cilician Ancient Armenia, King Hetoum I, 1226-1270 AD? It is about 30mm. And what do you think about its authenticity?
Nice ... it is a very cool looking coin (I am not the best guy to ask about your coin's authenticity, but it's eye-appeal is certainly way up there!!) I have an example as well, but my coin does not seem to resemble your new winner ... but I will show it to you for coin-comparison anyway ... Cilician Armenia. Royal. Levon I. AR Tram (Coronation issue) 1198-1219 AD Diameter: 22 mm Weight: 2.75 grams Obverse: Levon seated facing on throne decorated with lions, holding cross and lis-tipped scepter Reverse: Two lions rampant back-to-back, each with head reverted; between, cross pattée set on spear Reference: AC 289 Other: 5h … toned Well, both coins do have a King with lions flanking them, eh? (I guess they do have similarities ... ummm, is your example made of bronze?) => great coin, numz!!
Nice chatting. This is also my only Armenian coin. Please give me any idea about it. It weighs 4.02 g. Thanks.. Charles
I bought it because of its high details. It is also a little bigger than most ancient coins. please guess how much I paid for it?
Hey numz => I found a few examples on CNG, ranging from about $50-$175 depending upon condition and probably depending upon how badly the suckers paid for it during auction-fever!! http://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=189424 Your coin is certainly as nice or nicer than some of their examples ... ummm, but because you are asking us to guess, I'm assuming that you think you got a great deal, so I going to guess fairly low ... => I dunno? ... $50?
I paid 45 dollars for it.And I will proudly present my new aquisitions especially byzantine half follis coins.
