That is a coin that most likely looks even better in hand, a difficult coin to image.

I agree with you, she is a beauty !!!

I love the subtlety of this. Not all toning has to be monster.

The 81 certainly is beautiful...I like the way they abbreviate dollar, DOL.

Heritage Auctions has it listed on Ebay (Buy It Now) for $12,700.

I had one of those '96 quarters once on approval. It was nice and it was a low price (as those go anyway). I took a good long time to look it over and check it out. It was XF-AU details but I found where it was holed and expertly plugged so I returned it. I look back on it with longing because, even repaired as it was, it would be worth over ten times what they wanted for it then.

Here is a beauty that I don't have a very good image of, it is more of a rosy pink colour and was purchased from LostDutchman quite a few years ago:

I think that if God had wanted man to collect coins he would have given him more money.

The 1881 traded on Heritage's site for $9400 (including the vig) last May. It's gonna take someone wanting to make a market to pay that kind of price. Not that it isn't clearly the finest of the type, and likely undervalued. :)
