Because it has been severely corroded which has removed enough material to reduce the weight to 2.7 grams
1. Your scale isn't accurate enough with just 1 digit after the decimal as it is a rounded digit. 2. Weight and tolerances only apply in general to non-circulated coins as wear/damage reduces it, corrosion adds to it. Yours shows definite corrosion from an acid type solution. Jim
I also have 2 1943 steel pennies in good condition that weigh 2,7 so why is that if corrosion isn’t s factor?
