I have this penny that i guess at the mint the missed and only hit half of it and the rest is smooth is this rare and how much is it worth????
Post a pic if you can. I don't collect error coins but i understand that they are quite popular today.
I dont collect error coins either, but the "penny" that you mentioned, is called a cent, I am just telling you this because some people here get paranoid if you called it a penny.
How can you tell without a picture? I have several coins with the inscription ONE PENNY ... minted in Llantrisant. Christian
I was actually responding to the initial post as well, BUT...it's called internet lingo. Here, I'll translate: Oh my goodness! Please use English-proper, OK? Thanks, and farewell.
I do collect error coins and go to coin shows about 2 or 3 times a month. Error coins are sky rocketing in cost lately due to the many books being written about them. At coin shows lately I've noticed one individual that has nothing but error coins. Yes he has many PENNIES also. I call them pennies and I'm well over 6 feet tall and weigh well over 200 pounds so not many people critisize me for improper coin terminology in person at least. Now as for your penny. First of all to really bring a little money it has to have the full date and mint mark if there is one. Then naturally the condition is important. If offset on both sides, that too is a premium for value. For your information there is a great web site on PENNIES called coppercoins.com.
Howdy 57ragbug - Welcome to the Forum !! The coins you posted pics of are knwon as off center strikes. You can get a rough idea of values by visiting this web site - CLICK HERE Up at the top of the page, just click where it says Price Guide.
Please note that most price guides are: Just guides and not an actual guranteed prices. Best guesses at best by someone that pretends to know. What you will pay for an item, not necessarily sell it for. From what I've seen of your coin the date is not there and as I stated previously, that is rather important. You type of error will sell for about $2 to $5 dollars at coin shows I've been to. If you tried to sell it to one of the dealers there, they would possibly offer you $1 to $2 for it.
