I have a question about doubling...

    I have 2 pictures of two 8's from the same year on two Kennedy halves. I wanted to know if either of them have doubling. I think the first picture has it only because it is a little fatter than the second, plus I'm not sure if I see a secondary line inside the top half of the 8. I don't think there is anything wrong with the second pic, I just posted it for comparison. Thanks again for the help!:smile

    I don't see any evidence of doubling. Keep in mind that when a coin continues to wear from circulation, the numbers may appear to get fatter because they are tapered to the top.

    The first 8 may be exhibiting additional thickness.

    Unfortunately, extra thickness can also be attributed to die wear or circulation wear. My opinion is that this is the cause of the extra thickness, and the coin is not a doubled die. Keep up the hunt!
