I have a potential 1938 DD, can anyone confirm?

    Where do you see doubling? I see some damage on the "8" and in "LIBERTY". I see no signs of doubling.

    IDK, it looks like they spelled liberty wrong, LBIerty, I'll try and get more pics

    That's just damage from something hitting the letters and pushing the metal.

    No, damage, you can see scrape marks in your photo above, through, and below that area. I have never seen a modern misspelled word on modern US coins. Always damage.

    If there isn't already a known variety for this date, do you really think that you are the 1st person to see this, this is a "discovery" coin, and the millions of people who have handled and studied millions of these coins for 80 years all missed it?
    There is a rare DDO for the 1936. As well as other famous examples,
    1955, 1969-S etc.

    No. It is damaged.

    A die break would be raised, your's is just damaged.
