I am looking for this particular book, in English, as I believe there is a French version as well. Prieur, M. & K. A Type Corpus of The Syro-Phoenician Tetradrachms and their Fractions from 57 BC to AD 253. It is sold out everywhere I know to check. At this point, I guess I am in a waiting game. So…I had a couple of questions. 1. What do you (fellow board members) do at this point? Do you put your name on a waiting list at all of your book sellers? Do you contact the publisher? Etc.? 2. Related to the publisher part, how does a reprint happen? If enough people contact the publisher, does that put it in motion? Is there another way to get a reprint? Just to mention this, I’m only looking for legal copies that are properly copyrighted and paid for. Thank you for your thoughts, experiences or observations.
@mrbreeze …for any given book, I put just the ISBN in the search engine, Safari for my tablet and MS Edge for Windows 10. The results almost always includes Abe’s books, but also every location coast-to-coast where the book is for sale. This way I can compare what I have to sell versus the cost and condition of what is available to buy. But you have to know the ISBN. You may be able to find that out from the publisher or do other research to get it. Once a book is out of print there has to be a massive interest demonstrated before they roll out another edition. Hope this helps…Spark
In your case, I think I would have been looking for alternatives, as Prieur can be hard to get. I would have waited for an opportunity to get it at auction, and probably bought a newer book on the area in question, in this incident I think I would have gone for Hoover, "Handbook of Greek coins": https://www.cngcoins.com/Coins.aspx?CATEGORY_ID=2914&VIEW_TYPE=0
I usually just wait for the used book auctions. Reprints rarely happen. Such books will pop up on the auctions regularly. Short term, do interlibrary loan to see the book, read it, maybe copy a few pages if needed, until you can obtain your own copy.
CGB has one. I may have picked up my copy from them. https://www.cgbfr.com/a-type-corpus...ad-253-prieur-karin-prieur-michel,ls09,a.html
@David Atherton Thank you. I appreciate it. I ordered the book and even picked up a coin for my set. Thank you all for the info. It is helpful.
