If the "face marks" are indeed on the holder as claimed, perhaps you could remove the coin from it and re-photograph it? As it stands, I can't help but to think you're being excessively optimistic.

    Need better pics without flip.
    Looks dipped from the images.
Try to take pictures with natural light.;)

OP, your coins not cleaned, or dipped and the marks on the face are called luster breaks . I would need better images to grade the coin .

Rick, I agree, doesn't looked dipped or clean, better pics would be great with better lighting. Nice looking Morgan Coin Man! Pretty tough to get a 67 or 68 but 65 or 66 might work. Better pics would really help.....

There are tons of 1882-S Morgans highly graded. Nearly 30,000 by NGC alone at 65 or better. With the provided pictures I would say 65 with a shot at 66.

Has anyone here claiming it hasn't been dipped actually ever dipped a coin before?

I never saw a gold one, just the gold has to be worth something.

Very hard to tell from that picture.

I'm curious. What's this about gold?

    Yes. You said that.

    Neither have I.

I still haven't and never expect to.

It's a nice 1882-S, but most of them are nice. I also think you're being optimistic with the grading if you think it's better than 64 or 65.

It's a genuine 1882 S and those years from 1880-1882 were the most beautiful products the San Francisco mint had made to that date.

The grading standards have fallen so low that I would agree with MS64 or 65 but at first I would have said 63 depending on what flash and eye appeal it has.
