I've been aimless for some time now, just picking up odd stuff that looks good. But I've decided to chase down Peace Dollars and American Silver Eagles! I'm just a sucker for good-looking large silver coins. My Peace Dollar collection starts with a near-black, excellent condition 1922.
Both excellent choices...the Peace dollars can keep you busy a long time if you get into the VAM varieties and I've always felt that the silver eagles do more justice to the intricate design of the walker. I would also like to see your '22, I love the beauty of a nicely toned silver. http://www.vamworld.com/ mostly for morgans but they have peace dollars there too!
I have to say, the silver thalers are pretty nifty and so are, for the historical reasons, the Papal states stuff. I like ancient Greek silver, too, but am totally gunshy about replicas, etc.
I like your choices. Good luck, and if you can post a photo of the "black" peace dollar, I'd be interested in seeing it.
Excellent ! Nice choices, siwash. Reasonable, attainable goals. Nothing too whacky in there. Best wishes !
Yeah, I have to say I'm getting biased toward silver coins. I wonder if silver makes the best material for coins, technology wise. I say that having a couple of verdigris'd IHCs here that I feel kind of bad about.
