Your scale does not show a decimal point in the image you posted. If it rounds to the nearest whole number, it would properly show the weight as 3 grams. Chris
Keep in mind that the Mint allows for some variance in weight. If a 1983 cent is supposed to be 2.5 grams (+/-) then the scale could show some coins that weigh 2.49999 grams as 2.0 if your scale only rounds to the nearest whole number. Chris
?? I see no coin. There has been at least 1 1983 copper LMC found I believe. This is the reason I weigh all my 1983 LMCs. Would love to see a picture of it on a digital scale. If you really think it is one, take it to your local coin shop and have them take a look at it and weigh it for you on their scales.
Make sure the scale (in the instructions, etc) state it does tenths, hundredths or thousandths of a gram. Many food type scales only round up/down.
