I was coin roll hunting some pennies and grab a 1994 penny, I think nothing of it but check the reverse to see if there is anything cool there. Anyways, I flip the coin over, and notice something different. The oriantation of the obverse and reverse is more like a that of a British coin than an American coin. I'm guessing that it is 170 degrees, because when I flip it, it is not perfectly straight. Any ideas on the value of this coin?

In the two photos here are two coins, the error and a normal coin. In the first photo I start the coins of normal on there obverse, on the second photo I flipped each coin upside down perfectly, notice the difference of each coin? IMG_20141224_192632.jpg IMG_20141224_192712.jpg

I had six of these about 5 years ago, all BU and rotated roughly 165 degrees if I remember correctly. I believe I realized between $40 and $75 for them, depending on condition. I'd guess they're worth more like $60 - $100 now.

There is a $1 gold coin on ebay right now like this... has been there for awhile. I would LOVE to buy it, but the price they are asking is out of this world!

Post a pic taken while holding it up to a mirror so we can see both sides in the same picture.

Neither one of these is a very big rotation. Kinda like comparing a 2% Clip to a 30% clip. Usually, the bigger the error, the bigger the price.

I keep searching for this one. Must have looked at a couple thousand 94's!

    Good eye!

Are you following this thread the same way I am? Is approx. 170° not big? I thought this would be as big, as having this cent minted in a foreign mint with medal orientation.

Why do your instructions to him seem tantamount to calling him a liar? Are you planning to analyze the photo to more finely discriminate the exact angle than he can with coin in hand?

No no! Those 360 degree rotations are the only ones I'd pay big bucks for! I have a few thousand if anyone is interested! $10 a piece! What a deal!

Really, is that not a big rotation? The biggest I've found is 19 degrees. If this is no big deal, I'm digging mine out & rolling them! Geez, what ya gotta find?!?

I just want to correct you on something, 180 degrees is the biggest a rotation can be, anything over 180 would be lower than 180, 190 would really be 170, and 360 would actually be no rotation at all, there would be no way to tell.
