[h=3]I found a Confederate Half Dollar Coin in an old typewriter but it is missing two flowers[/h]http://www.coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/coin… I examined those photos and determined it is for sure not the third (fake.) It was either the first, second or fourth. I've compared it with my other silver coins and decided it is not silver. Then I noticed that on the back side, to the left of the shield, there are two missing flowers. What could this be? The typewriter is a 1930's.
Photo would help, but if it isn't silver there is no chance it is real as there is no record of any patterns being made by the Confederacy of non silver. There are many replicas that do not carry the "COPY" designation as they were made before the law. That's my guess, Welcome to the forum, Jim
As a scientist, I know better than to say not possible, but the probability is extremely small. Sorry. Jim
