I bought a box (50 rolls) of BWR pennies and found an amazing SEVENTY FOUR (74) wheats, ranging from a 1919 to a 1958. There were only 4 or 5 rolls tops that didn't have any wheats in it. Some of the rolls had three wheats in them. I also found several BU 1969-D cents and dozens and dozens of '60s pennies. This is the most successful box I have gone through to this point. My previous record was 24 wheats in a box. Somebody must have dumped their collection. 1919 1920 1920-D 1925 1926 1930-D 1934 1934-D 1935 1935-D 1936 1937 1940-D 1941 1942x2 1942-D 1944 1944-D 1945x2 1946 1946-Dx5 1947-D 1948-D 1950 1950-Dx4 1951 1951-Dx3 1951-S 1952-Dx8 1953-Dx2 1954-Dx3 1955-Dx3 1956-Dx3 1957-Dx13 1958-Dx3
My record from a couple of years back is 146, 74 of them were BU 1943 steel cents - some of them in Gem. Today's box only produced 5 which is becoming rather common lately. But a couple of weeks ago I found that 1858 FE in poor in $17.50 worth of BWR cents so hope is eternal.
