Does everyone easily remember what coins they have off the top of their head? My collection is by no means large....but I find myself continuously finding coins I forgot I had. The other day while looking through a red brick (box of 2x2s) I found a sweet buffalo nickel I forgot I had . Does anyone else have this problem?
Not really. I dont have many coins. 90 or so slabs, most all of them are Kennedy Halfs. 20 or so raw coins... I guess if I stopped collecting for a while, put the collection in the attic, after I couple of years I might have forgotten some coins and it would be cool to re-discover them.
I would love to forget what coins I have and rediscover them one day. But sadly I have a photographic memory when it comes to coins. I can remember every one and every blemish on the coin. It does help when I find a nicer one though. I can't wait until I get old and senile and start forgetting those things.
no way can I remember all the coins I have. some I don't look at for a year or two. then I buy and sell here and there. I can remember some coins I sold 4-5 years ago but forget a couple I bought last year. makes it fun to pull a box or case out and "find" something I forgot about.
I have no idea how I would remember. I remember a lot of my "better" coins, but there is simply no way. Sometimes I just dig through piles and look at cool coins I already own. Its cheaper than buying new ones on Ebay. Even digging through piles of assorted world coins and books of world coins I have bought can generate "that is cool" moments, but I admit digging through ancients is usually more fun for me.
