hi i found very old coin i guess its before 1500 year , and its written on it the following " DNVALE NS PERFAVC ANTH RESTITUOR REIPVBLICAC " its made from gold and weight 4 Gr . i live in jordan , where many romanian civilization was here long time ago . i want to know some infromation about this coin and if image could help i may put image for that coin. Thanks
Your coin is a gold "solidus" of the emperor Valens, minted during a 3 year period from 364-367 AD in the city of Antioch. You got the legend almost right. It is actually D N VALENS PER F AVG on the obverse and RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE on the reverse.ANTH is the Antioch mintmark. It should look something like this photo. By the way...VERY NICE COIN!!!
hi its exacitly same the photo you post , looks you very experience ... is this a rare coin ? and how much it worth ? thanks
It isn't extremely rare but like most gold coins,it is fairly valuable.Looking at the prices people have paid at auction for this coin,it varies between $250 for one that is worn to $500 or more for a good crisp strike. I'm not surprised that you found it there since the only thing separating Amman,Jordan from Antioch,Turkey is Syria. This was a fairly well traveled trade route in Roman times.
Really Thanks ... i where think i will be rich lol looks nothing will changed .. but all what i win from this coin that i meet someone like you Mik .. Thanks Man
