As i say. I don't normally buy Roman Provincials. This is for a varierty of reasons. I simply don't know enough. I know that there are masses of interesting types out there with varieties of busts, interesting reverse type etc. etc. Every now and again I see something that catches my eye. In this case it was the confronted portraits of these two Severan brothers. I don't think it's anything special but there is something about it that means that I was drawn back to it a few times until I gave in and bought it. As you may know rather like Provincials and coins showing the boys together so I really like your new coin. Mine is a different reverse (Cybele) and much lower grade.
The facial detail there is so good, you can see the murder in Caracalla's eyes as he gazes upon his brother's countenance.
