The seller has other coins with some key dates priced a little bit high but nothing close to crazy. In fact I made a offer for another coin and they accepted.
I believe he thinks its worth this money? Only thing I can think off.
The other side is a smooth as a hockey puck.

I think the seller works on the P.T. Barnum theory.

Lowball coins are a thing on the PCGS Registry. People try to get the lowest grade: PO01, and the sets are ranked that way, in the reverse of the usual scoring system. So people DO pay silly money for slick coins.

However, it would have to have a readable date to qualify for a grade at PCGS, so this one doesn't make sense for the Lowball Registry. It would be a shoo-in for PCGS PO01 if it had a date.

    I agree. P.T. Barnum.

That's not acsb-rich, is it? He's OK to deal with, but he also has some rather silly notions about pricing on some stuff.
