Sometimes a coin is so cool, you have to buy it a second time. I sold this back in 2017 to a dealer. I just bought it back from that dealer. He made a profit on paper, but after inflation I paid him less than he paid me

This tetradrachm of Alexander III (the great) is one of the earliest dated coins in the world. The earliest dated coins are extremely rare tetradrachma of Samos, dated to 494-489 BCE and 450-449 BCE. Those cost upwards of $10000+ today, which is slightly outside of my budget. The next best thing is this tet of Tyre dated to 330-329 BCE. Some quick research didn’t reveal any dated coins between the Samos tets and this coin, but I would love to be enlightened.

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm. Tyre mint. Struck under Menes. Dated RY 20 of Azemilkos (330/29 BC). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, -|O (Phoenician 'K = 'Ozmilk [king of Tyre]) above || (date). Price 3250

And since you are almost certainly curious, here is the earliest dated coin, a Samian tetradrachm, dated year A/1 (494/3 BCE):

Feel free to share the earliest dated coin in your collection!

TypeCoin, I think the coin pictured below was the oldest dated coin that went through my hands :D. It sold at a Heritage auction.

Neat date! Would that be turn of the century, turn of the millennium, or turn of chronology?

I'm sure the date of a changing millennium might be important to some people, but the Actian date of 15 seems to have no significance I'm aware of :D.
