After I won the $5 gold piece this year from B&M I knew it was all over...I just liked the gold look...now I never was much on gold coins for many reasons but this one jumped out and grabbed me...so yesterday I bid on a gold coin...but to top it all off....its not a US coin...
    (don't faint GDJMSP)

I'll let y'all know if I win it...I have 2 almost 3 days to go...

Well I'm hoping I can hold off the "grip of the Darkside" with 1 coin...but who knows---

I suspect it will have just the opposite effect.

Are you familiar with the phrase 'slippery slope' ? :)

You know sometimes i think US collectors worry because they think you're either one or the other, you're either Liteside or Darkside.

Collecting World coins doesn't mean you have to give up collecting US coins you know (i collect both), dark and lite can co-exist perfectly well together. Actually you'd be surprised but US and World coins can often compliment each other wonderfully. Think of the Liberty designs on the US coinage and then think of the Swiss and French coins... the French Liberty is not unlike the US Liberty... Sowers/Walkers.

Welcome in the world of world coins :)

Infact both Trantor_3 and I started out just on world (well i believe), and since posting on US based forums we've been lured into collecting US coins, so it's only right that we should repay the favour by luring some US collectors into the rest of the World...

I think now would be a good time to post a picture of a Gothic Florin...

Hey Speedy, it's all gold if your color blind!! :)

I too have been really looking hard and buying world coins lately. I don't know what it is about this!! I always told myself I would NEVER collect anything but U.S. IMHO, where the U.S. is slipping with their new designs, other countries are just the opposite with theirs. As I told Sylvester, I think the 2005 Britannia and the 2005 Kookaburra are 2 of the most beautiful modern issue coins I have ever seen. And look at the AUS Lunar series..absolutely stunning. Why wouldn't anyone want to have these and many others complimenting their collection. :p

Well I must say I've gotten more world coins than I thought I would...but when it comes to gold...that is something I didn't think about collecting.
