There is a coin that I found in a box of old coins i bought at a garage sale. I can't figure this one out, I've searched the internet but i can't come up with an answer. Anyone know what this is?
Well, it doesn't look like a coin. To me it looks like jewelry made in India in the style of the Greeks.
Is that a stylized "1967" under her bust? Sadly, not a coin.....might be a medal, but I wouldn't give it much consideration :-( Any designer initials? That might help your search.
The reverse has what appears to be Chinese or Japanese characters, while the front is very much Greco-style. So definitely not a real coin! Maybe it's real silver?
Oh good, we wait with baited breath and unbridled anticipation for your scholarly and learned "opinion".
I just got back in from a flight to Los Angles on my uncles King Air looking a t collection we might be buying so I didn't have too much time to work on this but to me. It looks like to me that it is a medal. I am not an expert on Greek coins but some one made it look Greek style for Jewelry. It is very nice though. The loop on the back tells me that it was most likely for some type of pendant.
