It is no secret that the portraits on the denarii of 84-88 CE are some of the finest portraits for Domitian. This coin is no exception. While it is worn, I love the stylish portrait. As a coin type it is (R) rare. I have several portraits of Domitian from this time period and I am always looking for more. Domitian AR Denarius 86 CE Obv: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TR P V. Kopf mit Lorbeerkranz rechts./ Rev: IMP XII COS XII CENS P P P. Minerva mit Lanze nach links stehend. RIC 441 (R) Purchased from DVIN Numismatik on Ma-Shops
Beautiful coin .. yours is an excellent coin all around.. but I know sometimes we can see a portrait and need to have it - here is a really young looking Trajan. Somehow I never pictured him young until I purchased this coin.. yet I believe this was struck late in his reign (AD 114-117?) ..perhaps the artist knew what side his bread was buttered? Not rated (R) rare...
