I Bought a Bunch of Communist Era Polish Coinage

Don't ask me why. But one thing that intrigued me was that most of the Eastern Bloc circulating coinage of the period was so much flimsy, boring junk - which is exactly what you'd expect from an economic system that devalues private ownership and commerce. Meanwhile the Poles were making large coins with varied themes that were artistically worthy. How did they get away with a series commemorating Polish kings of all things? Wasn't the idea of monarchy completely taboo during this period?

The reverses all have some variation of an eagle that looks like it's drawn from folk art...

I like the one that is 5 rows down and 3 from the left. Which reverse matches with it?

I love them. Those are the reason I went from collecting only US coins, to looking at world coins; something different and many with great designs.

I punched that legend into google translate and got International Womens Year, which was a United Nations commemoration in 1975. I'll get back to you on the reverse - the coins are at my office.
