I have this small AE11.5mm., 1.34gm., coin that I don't know where to start. Was it made like this or is it 'damaged'? Any help is appreciated, please?
I think it had been damaged like many ancient coins. I 've seen coins like that in my collection. Obverse shows a bearded man, while reverse has possibly something like an animal or horse heading right.
@7Calbrey I think that you are right. That style of 'man' on the obverse, does he remind anybody of a part of Europe or time in history?
The obv. looks like a king of Characene (South-East Iraq, 1st c. AD), but I don't know if they issued minimi like your small coin.
@GinoLR Thank you for your input. I have researched in line with your comment, and while I can see that the style is similar (and closer than I have come on my own) I cannot yet find a definitive attribution. I shall bear Attambelos I. c.47-24 B.C. in mind, though. Thank you, again.
