I have some coin sets that came in the yellow colored envelopes...some of the 1968 and 1970 sets have no mint dimes...these aren’t considered “proof” sets, these are considered “mint” sets, is that correct? The proof are the ones issued later in the starting in the late 1960’s, right? If I find a no mint dime (1968, 1970, 1982) pocket change that has lots of luster, or if I took the coin out of the Proof plastic set...would the coin lose it’s value? Would it be more valuable if I kept it in the set? Or would it be okay to open the set and put the remaining coins in 2x2 cardboard flips if I want a coin attributed?

Need to be more specific, p mint dimes did not carry a mintmark until 1980 you wont loose much value unless you had a unique error, otherwise the whole sets are not worth much anyhow, no worries if you choose to cut the coins out without damage. they had proof sets prior to 1960s also. with different years there was different offerings. different values. different mintmark placement or not. you should buy a blue book or redbook for refrence, not really the prices, they are not accurate.
