Sup guys. I'm new here so, hello. Anyways, my mom recently gave me a 100 hwan bill and i just wanted to know how much its worth. Any other info would be appreciated.
The 1966 currency reform in South Korea converted 10 hwan to 1 won, so the face value of your pre-'66 note is currently just a hair over 8/10ths of a US cent. It seems to be in excellent condition, although it can't be discerned from the photo whether it is actually Crisp Uncirculated, the highest quality note grade. If so, it's still probably worth only a couple of bucks at most. Considering the source, sentimental value is much greater.
It is a 1953-1956 Issue South Korean 100 Hwan Note. Obverse: Syngman Rhee, the first president of South Korea, at left. The "4288" in the lower right indicates a 1955 issue. Reverse: Archway VF is listed for $5.00 and Uncirculated for $30.00 in Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, General Issues, 1368-1960, 12th Edition.
