This is my first post, so it remains to be seen if I can successfully add photos. I have been sorting through some foreign coins and came across this 1994 Hungary 10 Forint. I was interested because of the clashing, but then noticed that there is no rim and no reeding (a normal 1994 that I have has alternating reeded and smooth edge sections). The coin in question weighs 5.26 grams, versus 6.12 for the normal one. The diameter is slightly less than the normal one and the edge does not show signs of tampering. Is it possible this was minted using the wrong collar?
Nice clash. Can you get a pic of both 1994's, edge pics. Let us see the normal reeded edge & the error edge...
Here are the two 1994 10 Forint coins. The first photo should be the edge view and the second a partial side-by-side.
Its pretty baffeling to me. Even if it did have a wrong collar die that wouldn't account for the .86 grams under weight. Kind of looks as if it were shaved down some how. Maybe someone else will jump in here...
