1971P, 1971S (circulated ???), 1976 "pocket coin". You input appreciated! I've never seen an Ike as worn as the '76. Single pics are from scanner. Link to large pics is in natural sunlight that really highlights the fine scratches but more accurately shows wear. Thanks for any replies. I personally have no idea and leave these low ball grades for the real experts. The 76 looks like a weakly struck coin to begin with since the motto is so weak next to IKE's neck. That area is usually protected by the profile's relief. All the coins are fairly well worn and as such show the net results of that wear. I must say, the scans and photo's aren't too complimentary.
The 71-s could be 40% silver, the others are worth face value. Check the edge of the 71-s compared to the others,if you dont see the copper its probably 40% silver worth about $10.50.
The '71S is silver so I'm wondering about the wear, as in why it appears to have been in circulation. If these were for sale in Coin World from a certain big advertiser I'd bet the '71S would be "choice BU," the '71 an easy "slider uncirculated" and the '76 an XF+.
Someone apparently didn't know it contained silver.I get Ikes from the bank all of the time,I always ask.Every once in a while I get a silver one, about a month ago I bought a roll from the bank, the teller said a teenager brought them in and wanted to exchange them for "real money", 4 of them were silver...stupid kids:smile
Go to ny bank. Usually folks just bring them in for paper. If your lucky, you could get quite a few. If your unlucky, you could go for weeks without finding any.
